Magical realist YA novel set in Launceston, Australia

Claire Hamisser is seventeen and waiting for her life to begin. She works day in, day out at a café in Launceston and awaits her final year of high school. She yearns to be a writer but presses down her talent. Every day is much the same. And then in walks Jerome.

Jerome is charming but strange – he’s immortal. But there’s a catch: if he falls asleep he wakes up somewhere else in the world with no memory of where he was last.

When he disappears, Claire waits for him to return. And forgets her homework. And begins to lose sleep. Suddenly, Claire begins to feel her life slipping away from her…

Meanwhile her best friend Suzannah skips town and heads to Melbourne – and everything changes.

A love letter to two cities, Unable To Sleep is an Australian young adult romance like no other.
